Type-independent detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus by ELISA using monoclonal antibodies that bind to the aminoterminus of capsid protein VP2

چکیده
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is no longer endemic in Europe, but is occasionally being introduced, for instance in July 2000 to Greece. Primary diagnosis consists in the notice of symptoms. The suspect has to be confirmed by laboratory diagnosis which consists in virus propagation, detection of FMD antigen by ELISA and of viral genomes by RT-PCR. In case that seroconversion has already happened, the detection of FMD virus-specific antibodies adds to the diagnostic tools.

Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is a very dangerous livestock disease which causes a serious loss in the production of milk and meat. Therefore, producing an effective recombinant subunit vaccine virus this disease is of great importance. Transient gene expression is a valuable tool to reach rapid and acceptable recombinant vaccine. An Agrobacterium-mediated transient gene expression assay was car...

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a contagious animal disease that causes irreparable damage to the economy of countries, including Iran in which this disease is a native one. Among the ways to combat FMD are vaccination and slaughter. Due to the specific situation of Iran, it is not possible to kill infected animals. Therefore, vaccination is the most important way to fight this disease. S...
متن کاملIdentification of antigenic epitopes on the foot and mouth disease virus isolate O1/Manisa/Turkey/69 using monoclonal antibodies.
A panel of mouse monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) was produced against a strain of type O foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) from the Middle East, O1/Manisa/Turkey/69. Seven neutralising MAbs were fully characterised and all were found to react with conformational epitopes. Monoclonal antibody neutralisation-resistant mutants (MARMs) were generated from the parental virus stock and the complete ca...

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an extremely infectious and occasionally fatal viral disease with a rapid onset and a short course that affects cloven-hoofed animals and results in considerable financial losses. For this reason, availability of more reliable and efficient vaccines against Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) is felt as a necessity. The purpose of this study is to develop a ...
